9 Natural Anti-Lice Recipes for Children

Well, it's back to school, and with it, we're forced to meticulously scrutinize the curly hair of our favorite brunette heads! Which, you'll agree, is a daunting task, because adult lice, also brown, camouflage themselves easily in the tortuous depths of our dear children's hair, and the famous comb certainly wasn't invented for curved hair.

 

And the belief that lice abandon kinky hair is unfortunately unfounded! White to grayish nits are easier to detect. Anyway, here are some natural homemade anti-lice recipes to get rid of them.

 

Homemade natural anti-lice recipes

 

Olive oil to asphyxiate lice

 

Apply 4 tablespoons of olive oil (or more depending on hair length) to soak the hair and asphyxiate the lice.

 

Massage the entire scalp and hair to distribute the oil evenly. Then cover the head with a shower cap or plastic food wrap. Leave the cap on for 4 to 6 hours or even better, overnight. Use a fine-toothed comb (you'll see, the lice will fall out of the hair on their own, quite dead) and wash the hair 2 to 3 times with your usual shampoo.

 

Repeat if necessary after 10 days (eggs hatch after 7 to 10 days). This is a 100% natural, simple, and super effective remedy! Plus, hair becomes softer and shinier.

 

Olive oil & lavender essential oil: natural anti-lice treatment

 

Mix 4 tablespoons of olive oil with 15 drops of lavender essential oil (a natural repellent). Apply the preparation to the hair of children aged at least 3 years and put on a shower cap. Follow the same instructions given for Remedy N°1.

 

Coconut vegetable oil

 

This is a variation of olive oil. It is a natural homemade remedy against lice that is as effective as olive oil and has the advantage of being good for hair care.

 

Apple cider vinegar

 

Add 4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (or possibly white vinegar) to the rinsing water after shampooing to help dislodge nits and eradicate lice.

 

However, some mothers have found vinegar ineffective for treating their children's lice. It costs nothing to try!

 

Cider vinegar + thyme essential oil

 

Mix half a cup of cider vinegar with 8 drops of thyme essential oil. Massage the head thoroughly with this preparation, place a shower cap on, and leave it on for 5 hours. Remove the cap and use a fine-toothed anti-lice comb.

 

Lemongrass essential oil + eucalyptus essential oil + marjoram essential oil

 

In your daily shampoo or rinsing lotion, mix 5 drops of lemongrass essential oil, 7 drops of eucalyptus essential oil, and 5 drops of marjoram essential oil. It seems that the use of essential oils is especially effective for prevention.

 

Eucalyptus leaves + lemon juice

 

Boil a handful of eucalyptus leaves for 15 minutes in one liter of water. Then add the juice of one lemon.

Apply to hair and scalp and gently massage. Let your homemade natural anti-lice preparation act for 30 minutes. Then, rinse and wash hair normally.

 

Black annona cherimola seeds + sweet almond oil: natural anti-lice treatment

 

Dry the black annona cherimola seeds (natural pediculicide) and grind them into a powder. Mix this powder with 3 tablespoons of almond oil.

 

Apply this anti-lice remedy to the hair and scalp, massage gently, then place a plastic cap on the head. Wait 4 to 6 hours before washing the head with your usual shampoo.

 

Garlic: an unsuspected natural anti-lice remedy

 

Crush two or three cloves of garlic and pour the paste into a little water. Let this preparation sit for an hour.

Rub the scalp with this homemade remedy, and immediately wrap the head with plastic wrap or a shower cap. Let it sit overnight and wash the head the next morning.
