To enhance the beauty of Black women, a few rules apply for subtle and skillful makeup. Black skin requires special attention and a judicious choice of color harmony.
Daily care
Before any makeup application, the skin must be healthy, well-cleansed, and cared for. Most Black or mixed-race skin tends to be oily. Therefore, it is important to remove excess sebum. To rejuvenate the skin, 3 care steps are essential. First, exfoliate once or twice a week to refine and purify the skin and remove excess sebum. Then, apply a clay mask to absorb all impurities (once or twice a week). Daily, it is best to apply a mattifying moisturizing cream which, as its name suggests, mattifies the complexion.
Makeup step
Before moving on to the makeup step, it is recommended to apply a neutral or colored pre-makeup base to black skin, which leaves a velvety finish. This ensures good makeup stability.
Foundation
To choose it well, simply test it on your face (never on your hand). Often, with Black individuals, there is a difference in shade between the face and the body. Avoid foundations that are too oily or too cool (containing a high pink pigment load) so as not to dull the skin. Foundation can be applied simultaneously with an enhancer that provides radiance and light. For extremely oily skin, after applying foundation, complete with the use of a loose powder and its absorbent effect, which can also be used for touch-ups throughout the day.
Blush
For black skin, orange blush is best as it changes color depending on the skin tone. With a blush brush, apply it from the inside of the face outwards, moving up towards the temple. You can lightly apply blush on the bridge of the nose, on the chin to refine facial features and harmonize the makeup.
Eyeshadow
Eyeshadow accentuates and deepens the gaze. With a brush, several layers can be applied. Start with the eyelid and move up towards the eyebrow, using a lighter shade. For black skin, use green, blue, or even black for a smoky eye. Eyeshadows should always be highly pigmented for a better effect.
Mascara
To intensify the gaze, thicken eyelashes, and create doe eyes, mascara remains a woman's best friend. The choice of mascara color can be made according to what you are wearing, your mood, or the color of the eyeshadow. For dark skin, opt for a midnight blue, dark purple, or brown mascara, which stand out very well and illuminate the gaze.
Eyebrows
You can maintain the shape of the eyebrow or reshape it. For black skin, opt for a dark brown or black pencil. To soften the pencil line, blend with your finger.

Lips
A symbol of sensuality in women, lips are meant to be vibrant in color. Generally, for Black women, the choice falls on a burgundy. But the palette of colors that suits dark or chocolate complexions perfectly is wide: matte reds, lacquered, soft or pearly colors, all the way to fluorescent colors.
