If you are in the midst of a hair transition, particularly if you have textured hair: curly, coily to kinky, your hair may have been weakened by conventional hair care routines that may have damaged your lengths and irritated your scalp.
The Origin of Rhassoul
Rhassoul is a natural clay earth. It comes from Morocco and is renowned for its astringent, absorbent, and softening properties. It is a clay rock, and the only exploited deposits are located in Morocco. 75% of the production is intended for export, as the word of its virtues has spread beyond the country's borders. It is mainly composed of a clay from the montmorillonite group, characterized by its magnesium pole, stevenite. It can be purchased in powder form, as dry solid pieces, or as a ready-made paste.
The Benefits of Rhassoul
It is ideal for natural hair care but can also be used on the skin due to its extreme gentleness.
These properties make it the ideal ally for the care of all hair types (especially textured hair) and skin. Indeed, the word Ghassoul, Rassoul, or Rhassoul comes from Arabic and means "to wash". It is therefore called "washing earth." With its foaming qualities and its harmless characteristics, rhassoul is excellent as a shampoo; it cleanses and degreases hair while protecting the hair fiber (keratin in particular). It leaves hair shiny and supple.
For body care, it helps to eliminate impurities and dead skin cells. As a face mask, it absorbs excess sebum from the skin and removes impurities, especially blackheads. It is highly recommended for sensitive skin because it is 100% natural, sulfate-free, and in this case offers a very gentle wash. It is hypoallergenic and suitable for all skin types.
Rhassoul for Kinky Hair
Rhassoul is the ideal ally for dry to very dry hair, especially Type 4 kinky hair, which is the most fragile due to its increased dryness. Indeed, unlike shampoos containing surfactants that produce a more or less abundant lather, rhassoul gently cleanses without removing the hair's protective film. So avoid shampoos containing sulfates and opt for this "washing earth" that will cleanse your hair without stripping it and without removing the precious sebum your kinky hair has worked hard to acquire. Result: hair that is cleansed, moisturized, and soft to the touch!
You can add vegetable oils (jojoba, argan, castor, olive, etc.) to your preparation for deep hydration. And don't hesitate to follow your rhassoul shampoo with a nourishing hair mask enriched with vegetable butters for your hair's greatest delight!
