Organic or ethical: do we have to choose?

Too many brands are riding the greenwashing wave today! And yes, it's trendy to jump on the natural and organic bandwagon. So, many brands boast about offering natural ranges, even going so far as to talk about organic ingredients. But they provide no transparency regarding the origin of their ingredients, and without external labels to reassure the consumer.

Indeed: not just anyone can be organic! Natural does not mean organic! I know it's enough to lose one's mind...

Here are some clarifications:

Natural cosmetics are not necessarily organic; they are mainly composed of natural ingredients, but nothing regulates the natural percentage compared to the percentage of "non-natural" ingredients.
Whereas an organic cosmetic must contain at least 98% natural ingredients, and of this minimum, at least 10% of these ingredients must be organic to be certified organic by the only two French organizations authorized to verify that so-called "organic" brands truly are.
So, choosing organic for a brand is truly a commitment from the brand.

Noireônaturel in all this...

Indeed, when a French brand like Noireônaturel chose natural and organic, it was (and still is) to respect the commitments to sustainable development advocated by Noireônaturel since the concept's inception.

We could have ridden the wave too, but we chose transparency; we wanted to go organic, and that necessarily involved certification. Our users needed to know exactly how our products were made. The ECOCERT and Cosmébio labels provide this reliability!

To fully honor our commitments, we included 9 times more organic ingredients than necessary to obtain certification: you will find up to 97% organic ingredients in our range. I won't even mention the environmentally friendly packaging, of course.

A little reminder always helps. Indeed, today: you can choose to consume differently without giving in to the all-green lobby that can cause confusion.

Remember to read labels, ask questions, familiarize yourself with the commitments of the brand you are interested in. Also, observe the transparency of the brand's communication, and compare quantities and price per liter, not per bottle. In short, be real "consum'actors"!
That was a little rant against misinformation.

Organic Cosmetics: Compare Prices!

Whether you are hesitant or convinced of the benefits of natural and organic cosmetics. You who want the best for your hair, whether curly or coily. You who have black or mixed-race skin. How do you navigate the jungle of prices and labels?

As we explained in a previous post, to know what your cosmetics contain, the first thing to do is to read your labels and/or product description sheets.
You will find the list of ingredients, with the percentage of natural ingredients, and the percentage of ingredients from organic farming. Ingredients are listed in order of importance. So, if you want to compare two products from different brands, check if they have the same percentage of organic ingredients. Also, whether the product is certified or not and its content. If you pay €17 for shampoo from brand X and competitor Y sells it for €19 but with 50 ml less content, it's not the same thing!

In a word, stay vigilant, and act as a "consum'actor." Don't let yourself be guided solely by marketing. And don't fool yourself, quality products with an irreproachable composition are rarely the cheapest. But after all, quality has a price, and you're worth it, so treat yourself!

It's better to have "a few" good cosmetics in your bathroom. Otherwise, your shelves will be invaded by half-used pots and bottles that will end up in the trash; some will recognize themselves!
