Natural or artificial Christmas tree?

..."More than 6 million Christmas trees are sold in France, of which 1 million are artificial trees. And the idea is spreading that to be an environmentalist, one should prefer the artificial tree to the natural one.
THIS IS FALSE!!!

Natural trees have positive effects on the environment:

  • Natural Christmas trees produce oxygen from CO2:
During its growth, a tree accumulates carbon dioxide, which it removes from the atmosphere through photosynthesis, thus converting CO2 into wood, oxygen, and water. It therefore helps to reduce carbon dioxide, which increases the greenhouse effect so harmful to our planet, by serving as a filter.
Young fir trees, like all young trees, require more CO2 because their growth is more significant; these young trees therefore contribute more to the filtering work of the atmosphere.
  • Natural fir trees improve soil stability:
The root system of these trees stabilizes the soil, thus influencing the ecology of the environment and helping to reduce the risk of flooding due to erosion by wind or water. The permeability of Christmas tree plantations reduces runoff during summer rains.
  • Natural fir trees serve as habitats for wild animals:
Conifer plantations attract a wide variety of animals such as passerines and tits, as well as small rodents and small game such as partridges.
  • Natural fir trees are biodegradable:
Fir trees are completely biodegradable. Once the holidays are over, your tree can be turned into wood chips or composted. It is therefore not considered waste. It decomposes on its own and returns to its nutrient element in the soil: humus. Contact your municipality to dispose of it.
  • Natural fir trees contribute to economic development:
One harvest follows another, thus contributing to employment and local development. French and European Christmas tree producers are making efforts to enable their customers to find quality products at a lower cost and not "made" in Asia, as most artificial trees are."....
