Nourish and moisturize
"Since henna has a slight drying effect, don't hesitate to add some fatty substances to protect your hair:
- vegetable oil: a little vegetable oil can only do good. However, it is recommended not to overuse it as it would prevent the henna from fixing to the hair fiber. I still use a certain amount in my preparation (Brazil nut, avocado, and camellia) without it negatively affecting it.
- fromage blanc / yogurt: They facilitate detangling and make hair shiny, but they seem especially essential to me for adding creaminess to the paste and thus facilitating its application (henna wraps the hair well and doesn't fall apart). Be careful, incorporate it at the last moment (before putting the paste on your head) so that the milk doesn't turn and give an unpleasant smell.
- coconut milk/cream: Moisturizing and very nourishing, it would promote hair growth. Keep it in the refrigerator so that the texture is creamier, thicker. Like yogurt, it is a dairy product, so incorporate it only when applying your henna.
- banana powder: It mixes very well, moisturizes hair, and makes it soft and shiny."
