Today, May 17, 2024, is the international day against discrimination against LGBTQ+ people (lesbian, gay, bie, transgender, queer etc.). For the occasion, we wanted to highlight 5 personalities from the LGBTQ+ community who assume their textured hair, in France and internationally.
Lil Nas X
You’re probably familiar with his worldwide hit « Old Town Road« . Lil Nas X is a young American rapper born in Atlanta. He has a bold, assertive artistic universe full of humor and creativity. In 2019, the year he found himself thrust into stardom, he also came out as gay. In addition to his musical career, he is a fervent advocate of self-acceptance and visibility for LGBTQ+ people, promoting diversity and inclusivity.

Tahnee
Change of register and continent with Tahnee from Bordeaux. This talented comedian has made a name for herself in the world of stand-up with her sarcastic observations on everyday life, talking about herself with great irony and self-mockery. Her refreshing sense of humor doesn’t prevent her from tackling political issues: she defines herself as lesbian, Afro-feminist and queer, and doesn’t hesitate to tackle themes of gender, race and class.

Willow Smith
The daughter of Jada and Will Smith is a versatile artist: singer, actress and model. In 2010, she came to prominence with her track Whip my hair, which became an empowerment anthem for young black girls. Willow is committed to many issues, including the LGBTQ+ cause, having herself come out as bisexual.

Samira Wiley
You probably know her from her roles in Orange is the New Black (for which she was nominated for an Emmy), and The Handmaid’s Tale. In addition to her acting talents, she is an important voice in the LGBTQ+ community, having openly spoken out about her own lesbian identity and supported the rights of LGBTQ+ people.

Vincent Dedienne
Back in France with a gay figure: Vincent Dedienne. A humorist, actor and columnist, he is a regular presence in the media and on stage. He also appears in several films and series, most recently La Flamme with Jonathan Cohen. He uses his fame to get involved in social and political causes.
